FULL RE-THATCHING

This may be in water Reed or wheat straw depending on what the house was previously thatched in or if a new build depending on the preferences of the customer and what’s best suited to the building. We expect a full re-thatch to last at the top end of 20-30 years depending on the pitch of the roof and it’s location. For example if a roof is situated under some trees and doesn’t receive much sunlight this may reduce its life span.

REPAIR WORK

From pest damage to patch work on the thatch, this is an essential service to ensure the roof lasts as long as it can. Holes and weak points can mean a roof has to be thatched before the rest of roof actually needs replacing which isn’t cost efficient so keeping on top of these things is important.

RIDGING

Ridging is normally done in wheat Reed due to its flexibility allowing it to bend over the apex of the roof giving it its water proof seal. We expect a ridge to last between 10-15 years as the top of the roof takes the brunt of all the weather. We have many options with ridging whether a nice simple sheared in flush or a ornate block pattern ridge. We can tailor this to the customers wants. With this service we also provide a clean down of the main thatch roof to make sure it lasts as long as it should.

INSURANCE REPORT

We offer this service which normally includes details on what the roof is thatched in, whether the chimneys are compliable with the height regulations and the lifespan of the roof. This is essential for any insurance quotes.
